Five people have graduated from the new training program for in-home child care providers established by The Greenville Housing Authority and Greenville First Steps.
The pilot program aims to establish 10 home-based child care centers in local communities that lack access to affordable, high-quality care. The program was launched earlier this year in collaboration with the South Carolina Child Care Resource and Referral, the Palmetto Shared Service Alliance and other community partners.
The first cohort of graduates includes Janella Bray, Cynthia Harrison, Lillie Allen, Evette Butler and Shamaine Benson. Each graduate completed 10 weeks of free orientation and training to become child care providers.
